📸 Camera on - insecurity off?

I'll be honest - I'm not the biggest fan of studio shoots.
Adjusting flash intensity. Reposition the flash. Don't move too much to the left and right. Don't shoot too much from below, otherwise you can see the ceiling etc. etc.
What do I like?
Movement. Raw. Spontaneous.
Just letting go while the camera is rolling.
Because I know how easy it is to feel lost in front of the camera. And how good it feels when you start to feel at home in it.
Here are 5 mini-exercises that can help you develop a whole new feeling for yourself in front of the camera - whether it's a selfie video, dance clip or expressive image.

1. Go as you feel
Find a room with some space.
Put your mobile phone in a corner. Press record.
And then - walk.
Slowly. At your own pace.
Imagine you enter a room and all eyes are on you.
How do you want to look?
Sublime? Gentle? Playful?
Vary your steps. Your posture. Your gaze.
And then see how much a change in your gait alone can do.
2. Poses, but real
Sit in front of a mirror or directly in front of your camera.
And play with your posture. But please: without comparison. Without a "model vibe".
Test:
Strong & upright
Soft & slightly slumped
Playful with slightly tilted head
Seductive with hands on the body
Observe what feels good for you.
Not: what supposedly looks "right".
But rather: liberating.
3. Eye contact with yourself
Don't just stare the camera in the face.
But... look at yourself.
As if you were saying: "I see you. I take you seriously."
Turn it into a game:
Soft gaze
Intense, focussed gaze
Look sideways, then slowly back to the camera
Sounds simple. And it is.
But the effect? Massive.
4. Expression explosion
Pick 3 emotions: e.g. joy, longing, dominance.
And express them one after the other - with your face, your posture, your movements.
Joy: gentle smile → broad beam
Longing: slow head movement, gaze into the distance
Dominance: strong stance, direct gaze, calm breath
Let the camera follow you. You'll be surprised at what's inside you - if you just dare to let it all out.
5. Your own 15-second clip
Make it rough. Without perfection. Without a script.
Choose a song that moves you - and press record.
Dance. Smile. Give yourself a strong look.
Or just move the way it flows.
And then watch it.
Not to criticise yourself.
But to see it: That's you. Real. Unpolished. Alive.
If you realise: I want more of this, then perhaps my Video Confidence Boost workshop is exactly your next step.
No frontal teaching. No pressure to look good.
Just you, your expression - and a camera that doesn't judge you, but captures you.
